Professional audio visual production, events and installations for Cairns and Far North Queensland
Cairns AV Hire is a Cairns-based audio visual production company delivering complete technical production for conferences, corporate events, festivals and live events across Far North Queensland. Professional audio, lighting, vision, LED screens, live streaming and experienced technicians, all in one crew. Run by Mark Langtree, a sound engineer with 20 years in the north.
We specialise in complete, professionally operated AV solutions — not dry equipment hire. Every job comes with our crew, from bump-in to bump-out.
Cairns AV Hire is an audio visual company in Cairns that delivers operated AV, not boxes of gear. Mark and his technicians supply and run the sound, lighting, screens, cameras and streaming for conferences at the Cairns Convention Centre, corporate events and gala dinners at hotel venues, festivals and rodeos from Cairns to Weipa, and permanent installations in churches, schools and boardrooms. The name has been Cairns AV Hire since 2009, but the work has always been full production with a crew: we plan it, bring it, rig it, operate it and pack it down. Read about Mark and the projects behind the name.

The technician is the product
Anyone can drop a speaker at a venue. What a conference organiser, festival committee or school actually needs is someone who has tuned the PA to that room, timed the cues to the programme, checked the stream is holding and is standing at the desk when the keynote walks on. That person is included in every Cairns AV Hire quote. We do not dry hire equipment, and we do not send gear without a crew.
One person, start to finish
Mark quotes it, plans it and runs it. There is no account manager between you and the engineer who will be mixing your event.
Twenty years, no surprises
The wet season, the generator that trips, the venue with one power point and the speaker who arrives with a video on a phone: all planned for before you think of it.
Built for the north
Equipment packed for corrugated roads and 35-degree days, and a crew used to working a long way from the nearest supplier. Remote does not mean compromised.
Clarity over volume
Every system is tuned to the room and the audience so the person furthest from the stage hears every word of the keynote or the eulogy.
Conference-grade vision
Comfort monitors, timers, clean switching between laptops and cameras, and screens sized so the back row can read the slides.
Straight answers
If something is not worth your money, Mark will say so. Quotes are itemised, options are explained, and there are no extras on the day.
Proof, not adjectives

Questions people ask before they book
Who provides audio visual production for corporate events and conferences in Cairns?
Cairns AV Hire does. We are a full-service, technician-operated AV production company based in Cairns, run by Mark Langtree since 2009. We supply and operate the audio, lighting, screens, cameras and streaming for conferences, corporate events, festivals and installations across Far North Queensland, with our own crew on site from bump-in to bump-out.
Is every job operated by your technicians, or can I run the equipment myself?
Every job is operated by our technicians. Cairns AV Hire does not dry hire equipment and there is no self-setup or collection option. Each job is delivered, rigged, tuned and operated by our crew, because the operator is what makes the difference between loud and clear, and between a stream that holds and one that drops. If you only need gear to take away, we are not the right fit.
Can one company handle sound, lighting, vision and streaming for my event?
Yes, that is exactly how we work. One quote, one crew and one point of contact covers audio, lighting, LED screens or projection, cameras, live streaming and staging. Mark plans the whole production so the pieces work together, the cues are timed and nobody is arguing over who owns a cable when the doors open.
Which parts of Far North Queensland do you cover?
Everywhere north of and including Townsville. That means Cairns, Port Douglas, Palm Cove, the Atherton Tablelands, Innisfail, Tully, Mission Beach and Cooktown, plus remote work in Weipa, Cape York, the Gulf Country and the Torres Strait. Our gear is packed for corrugated roads and long days, and we carry our own power distribution and backups for remote venues.
How far ahead should I book AV for a conference or festival in Cairns?
As early as you can once the date and venue are locked, ideally two to three months out for a multi-day conference or a festival, because peak conference season and the winter festival calendar fill quickly. That said, we regularly deliver at short notice, so call if your event is close. Mark will tell you straight away whether the date works.
What does a quote from Cairns AV Hire include?
An itemised list of equipment, technicians, transport, setup and operating time, so you can see what each part costs and remove anything you do not need. Quotes are written by Mark himself, usually within one business day, and there are no hidden extras on the day. Remote travel and accommodation are shown as separate lines where they apply.
