Cairns AV Hire is Mark Langtree's audio visual production company, based in Cairns since 2009. Mark is a sound engineer and production manager who has run audio, lighting, vision and streaming for festivals, conferences, government conventions, community events, ceremonies and permanent installations everywhere north of Townsville, from the Weipa Fishing Classic to the Cairns Convention Centre.

Cairns AV Hire is Mark Langtree's own business, ABN 25 504 156 730, trading under the registered names Cairns AV Hire and Cairns Audio Hire. It is not connected to any other AV, PA or equipment business in Cairns.
An ear for it
Anyone can put a speaker in a room. Mark gives you the confidence that every word, every note and every slide will land exactly the way it should.
Mark started as a sound engineer, and that is still how he listens to a room. He hears the difference between a PA that is loud and a PA that is clear: the vocal that sits right on top of the band, the speaker at a lectern who can be understood at the back table, the hum that should not be there and is not. Twenty years of mixing festivals, conventions and ceremonies has given him an ear that notices problems before the audience does.
He also understands that the sound is only half the job. A client running a corporate convention needs a crew that turns up early, dresses cables so nobody trips, and keeps the session to time. A festival committee needs someone who has built a stage in a paddock, in the heat, with the power arriving late. A family organising a memorial needs somebody calm who will quietly make sure the eulogy is heard. Mark has done all of these many times over, and he plans for each one differently.
Cairns AV Hire is Mark's business. When you call, you speak to him. When you get a quote, he wrote it. When the event runs, he is either behind the desk or has personally put the right person there.
Our approach
Operated, always
We are a production company, not a counter. Every job is delivered by our technicians from bump-in to bump-out. We don't dry hire equipment, because the person running it is what makes it work.
One person, start to finish
Mark quotes it, plans it and runs it. There is no account manager between you and the engineer who will be mixing your event.
Designed for the room
The PA is sized to the audience, the screen to the room depth, the lighting to the programme. Nothing is sent because it happened to be on the truck.
Built for the north
Equipment packed for corrugated roads and 35-degree days, spares of everything, our own power distribution, and a crew used to working a long way from the nearest supplier.
Twenty years, no surprises
The wet season, the generator that trips, the venue with one power point and the keynote who arrives with a video on a phone are all planned for before you think of them.
