CAIRNS AV HIRE

Twenty years of making sure the show goes on.

Mark has run sound, lighting and vision in Far North Queensland since the mid-2000s — from the Weipa Fishing Classic to the Cairns Convention Centre, and from a wedding on the Tablelands to a government convention with delegates dialling in from three states. If it has a microphone, a screen or a stage anywhere north of Townsville, there's a good chance Mark has mixed it.

An ear for it

Anyone can hire you a speaker. Mark hires you the confidence that every word, every note and every slide will land exactly the way it should.

Mark started as a sound engineer, and that's still how he listens to a room. He hears the difference between a PA that is loud and a PA that is clear — the vocal that sits right on top of the band, the speaker at a lectern who can be understood at the back table, the hum that shouldn't be there and isn't. Twenty years of mixing festivals, conventions and ceremonies has given him an ear that notices problems before the audience does.

He also understands that the sound is only half the job. A client running a corporate convention needs a crew that turns up early, dresses cables so nobody trips, and keeps the session to time. A festival committee needs someone who has built a stage in a paddock, in the heat, with the power arriving late. A family organising a funeral needs somebody calm who will quietly make sure the eulogy is heard. Mark has done all of these many times over, and he plans for each one differently.

Cairns AV Hire is Mark's business. When you call, you speak to him. When you get a quote, he wrote it. When the event runs, he is either behind the desk or has personally put the right person there.

Why people in Far North Queensland call Mark first

One person, start to finish

Mark quotes it, plans it and runs it. There is no account manager between you and the person who will actually be mixing your event.

Twenty years, no surprises

He has already dealt with the wet season, the generator that trips, the venue with one power point and the speaker who arrives with a video on a phone. It is planned for before you think of it.

Built for the north

Gear that is packed for corrugated roads and 35-degree days, and a crew used to working a long way from the nearest hire shop. Remote does not mean compromised.

Sound you can hear from the back

Clarity over volume. Every system is tuned to the room and the audience so that the person furthest from the stage hears every word.

Fixed rooms, not just events

The same judgement goes into a boardroom or school hall fitout: simple to use, reliable for years, and serviced by the person who installed it.

Straight answers

If something is not worth your money, Mark will say so. Quotes are itemised, options are explained, and there are no hidden extras on the day.

Ready when you are

Tell Mark what you're planning and he'll come back to you with an itemised quote, usually within one business day. Short notice and remote locations welcome.
