AV installation in Cairns for churches, schools, boardrooms and venues

Cairns AV Hire designs, installs and services permanent audio visual systems in Cairns and Far North Queensland. We install sound systems, displays and projection, video conferencing for Teams and Zoom, hearing augmentation, background music and paging, and control systems that staff can run with one touch. Our rooms are churches, school halls and classrooms, corporate boardrooms, council chambers, function venues and clubs.

The same judgement we bring to a live event goes into a fixed room: design it for the people who will use it, install it properly, hand it over with training, and service it afterwards. Installations are designed, installed and commissioned by our own technicians. We don't dry hire equipment for others to fit, and we don't leave until the room works.

Commercial AV installation designed around how the room is used

A good installation is judged on a Tuesday morning, when the person running the room has never met an audio technician and needs the microphone to work. That is the standard we design to. Every system starts with how the room is used: who speaks, who listens, what is shown on screen, who joins remotely and who has to operate it. Then we choose equipment that does that job reliably for years, install it with tidy cabling and a documented rack, and hand it over with one-touch control and training.

Mark has designed and installed sound, display and video conferencing systems in school halls and classrooms, corporate boardrooms, churches, function venues and clubs across Far North Queensland, and twenty years of running live events means the systems are specified by someone who knows what fails and what does not.

How an installation runs

  1. Site visit and scope. We look at the room, the acoustics, the power and the cable paths, talk to the people who will use it, and write a scope with a drawing and an equipment schedule.
  2. Design and quote. An itemised quote showing equipment, labour, cabling and commissioning. We say what is essential and what is optional.
  3. Installation. Our technicians install and cable the system around your schedule, with licensed electrical work carried out or certified by an appropriately licensed contractor.
  4. Commissioning and tuning. Speakers are aligned and tuned to the room, microphones set for feedback margin, displays calibrated, control programmed.
  5. Handover and training. Training for staff and volunteers, a one-page guide, and documentation of the rack.
  6. Service. We service what we install, and defects in our workmanship notified within 12 months are rectified at no charge.

Rooms and systems we install

Church sound system installation

Column or line array speakers matched to the room and its reverberation, wireless and lectern microphones for readers and clergy, a music input and band inputs where needed, hearing augmentation, and a simple wall panel or preset console so a volunteer can run a service. Projection or displays for words and video, and a streaming feed where the congregation wants one.

School AV installation

School hall sound systems for assemblies, presentation nights and performances, with a stage microphone system, a media input and one-touch control for teachers; classroom displays and audio; outdoor PA for sports and carnivals; and paging and bell integration where the school needs it.

Boardroom and meeting room AV

Displays, cameras, ceiling or table microphones, in-ceiling speakers and a touch panel that starts a Teams or Zoom call with one press. Wireless presentation from laptops, cable-free tables, and the same design scaled up for training rooms and council chambers.

Video conferencing installation

Room systems for Microsoft Teams and Zoom with camera tracking, multiple microphone zones and audio integration so remote participants hear everyone in the room, not just the person nearest the laptop. Designed for hybrid meetings that happen every day, not once.

Function venues, clubs and hospitality

Venue PA and lighting upgrades, background music and paging with zoned control, presentation systems for function rooms, displays for sports and menus, and input points so visiting entertainers plug into a system that already sounds right.

Hearing augmentation and accessibility

Induction loops and assistive listening systems for churches, halls, chambers and meeting rooms, fed from the main audio system and commissioned with signage, so the room meets its accessibility obligations and people with hearing aids can follow every word.

Why a live production company makes better installations

An installer who has never mixed a live event tends to specify from a catalogue. An engineer who has spent twenty years standing at the back of rooms in Far North Queensland knows which speakers are still clear when the hall is full and the air conditioning is running, which wireless systems survive the local radio spectrum, which ceiling microphones actually capture the person at the end of the table, and which control panels volunteers stop using after a month. That experience is in every installation we design.

It also means the installed room can host a bigger event when it needs to. We design installations so that our event production crew can tie in extra PA, lighting or a live stream for a special service, a graduation or a conference without rebuilding the room.

Installations across Cairns and Far North Queensland

We install in Cairns and the northern beaches, Port Douglas, the Atherton Tablelands, Innisfail and the Cassowary Coast, and we travel for schools, churches and councils in Cooktown, Weipa, Cape York and the Torres Strait, where a properly installed system with local training matters even more because a technician is a long way away. Installation quotes for regional sites include travel and accommodation as separate lines.

AV installation questions

Do you install sound systems in churches and school halls in Cairns?

Yes. Church and school hall sound systems are the most common installations we do: column or line array speakers matched to the room, wireless and lectern microphones, a simple mixer or a preset-based digital system, a media player input and a wall panel so a volunteer or teacher can run it with one touch. We design for speech clarity first and music second, unless you tell us otherwise.

Can you install a hearing loop or hearing augmentation system?

Yes. We design and install hearing augmentation for churches, halls, council chambers and meeting rooms, including induction loops and other assistive listening systems fed from the main audio system, with signage and commissioning to the relevant Australian standard. Tell us the room size and layout and we will recommend the right approach.

Do you set up boardroom video conferencing for Teams and Zoom?

Yes. A typical boardroom gets a wall display or two, a soundbar or PTZ camera, ceiling or table microphones, in-ceiling speakers and a touch panel that starts a Teams or Zoom meeting with one press. Larger meeting rooms and council chambers get camera tracking, multiple microphone zones and integration with the room audio so remote participants hear everyone clearly.

Will our staff be trained to use the new system?

Yes. Every installation is handed over with training for the people who will actually use it, a one-page guide on the wall or in the rack, and simple one-touch control so the system can be run without a technician. If a volunteer can start the Sunday service or a teacher can run assembly without calling us, the install is finished.

Do you service and support what you install?

Yes. We service what we install, whether that is a fault call, a firmware update, a new microphone or an expansion when the room changes. Because we designed the system and documented it at handover, we know exactly what is in the rack. We can also inspect and quote on systems installed by others.

Can you upgrade an existing system instead of replacing everything?

Often, yes. Many rooms have good speakers and poor microphones, or a working display and no way to connect a laptop. We assess what is there, keep what works, and replace or add only what is needed, with cabling tidied and the control simplified. You get a written scope showing what stays, what goes and why before any work starts.

Have a room that needs to just work?

Tell Mark what the room is, how it is used and what is not working today. He will arrange a site visit and come back with a scope and an itemised quote.
